The Institution of Engineers, Pakistan
(IEP)
was founded with the blessing
of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in 1948
with its Headquarters at Dhaka. In 1972 the Headquarters were shifted to
Lahore. The name was amended by substitution of Institution for Institute in
line with international trend in the 22nd AGM held in 1979.
IEP has its own constitution, according to which its affairs at
the Headquarters are managed by its elected President, Vice Presidents

Quaid-e-Azam
Mohammad Ali Jinnah's Message
"If Pakistan is
to take its proper place among the progressive nations of the world,
it will have to take up a good deal of leeway in the realm of scientific
and technical education which is so necessary for the proper development
of the country and the utilization of its resources. The
establishment of institution like INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERS will greatly
stimulate technical research and help in disseminating available
information. THE INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERS will not only benefit the
engineers themselves by improving their technical knowledge but also
bring lasting benefits to public services which they are called upon to
perform. "I wish the Institute every success."
(Quaid-e-Azam's message to the first Inaugural Meeting of the Institute
of Engineers on June 20, 1948). |
